The first meeting of the EIB Institute Knowledge Programme succeeding the University Research Action Programme took place on 24 January 2013 at the EIB’s headquarters in Luxembourg.
Participants came from University of Stirling (UK), RWTH Aachen (DE), Université du Luxembourg (LU), University of Milan (IT), Technical University of Lisbon (PT), Université de Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne (FR), KU Leuven (BE), Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (ES), as well as from two networks (UNIMED and C.R.E.D.I.T.) and from the European Regional Science Association (ERSA).
The meeting provided an opportunity to share with the participants the various activities that the programme is currently financing. This year’s topics included “Technology assessment and the acceleration of innovation”, “The history of infrastructure financing”, “SMEs”, “Measuring impact beyond return”, “Environment”, “Cost benefit analysis of research and development projects”, and “Microcredit”, to mention but a few.
Three seminars were held on research grants (EIBURS) funded by the programme: (i) “Urban Development Funds in Europe: Opportunities, Structures, Operations” (presentation by Prof. Wolfgang Breuer and Dominique Schaeling, Aachen University); (ii) “Market-Based Environmental Policy and Ecosystem Services Delivery” (presentation by Frans De Vries, University of Stirling); and (iii) “The Diffusion of Public e-Services in Europe” (presentation by Prof. Antonello Zanfei, University of Urbino).
