Representatives of 14 universities and two higher education organisations from around the EU attended the 22-23 January 2014 event at the EIB’s Luxembourg headquarters. The range of research opportunities offered by the EIB was presented and academics gave their views of the state of ongoing projects.
There was a general discussion of the EIB’s programmes related to university research sponsorship (EIBURS), EIB research internships (STAREBEI) and the work with individual universities and networks. These represent a wide range of research topics from various fields.
The meeting also featured break-out seminars discussing the specific challenges and opportunities of three EIBURS-funded projects: “Financial Literacy” (University of Groningen), “An Economic Assessment of the Packaging and Packaging Waste Directive” (TU Lisbon) and “The History of European Infrastructure Finance.” (Bauhaus Universität Weimar)
