Sixteen finalists have just been selected for the Social Innovation Tournament, a flagship initiative of the Institute’s Social Programme that rewards innovative projects creating social value and combating social exclusion.
The 16 finalists were selected by EIB experts from 342 candidates in 29 countries. The finalists will present their proposals at the final event, to be held in Milano, Italy on 24 September, organised in cooperation with Fondazione Cariplo.
All 16 finalists will compete for the General Category 1st and 2nd Prizes, respectively EUR 25 000 and EUR 10 000. Projects addressing the topic of equal opportunities with a special emphasis on people with disabilities will also compete for the Special Category Prize of EUR 25 000. Some of the 16 finalists, not necessarily prize winners, may receive a voucher entitling the team to benefit from subsequent coaching/mentoring services.
Over two days in July, the 16 finalists will participate in a mentoring bootcamp in Madrid, organised in cooperation with Instituto de Empresa where experts on business and social entrepreneurship will offer practical advice to improve all aspects of each project.
