The EIB Institute facilitates the transfer of know-how and experience between different partners and countries in the heritage conservation field, in particular through its cooperation with Europa Nostra, the leading heritage organisation in Europe.
On Friday 27 November, at the EIB, the EIB Institute organised a policy session on “Funding cultural heritage in Europe” in the framework of the first Board and Council meetings of Europa Nostra in Luxembourg. Cultural heritage is a key component to the attractiveness of Europe. It provides its regions and cities with a strong basis to develop cultural tourism and attracting investment.
After the opening remarks by Maggy Nagel, Luxembourg’s Minister of Culture, the first session was dedicated to Cultural heritage in Luxembourg: today and tomorrow, with presentations by Patrick Sanavia, Directeur of the Service des sites et monuments nationaux, René Steichen, President of Les Amis du Château de Vianden, and Marianne Brausch, from the Fonds du Kirchberg.
The second session was about EIB support and funding for cultural heritage with a presentation by Brian Field, Professor at University College London and Gerry Muscat, Head of the Regional and Urban Development Division, EIB.
