The 2016 laureates of the seventh edition of Behind the Lens, the EIB Group staff photo competition, are: John Donaldson (1st and 3rd prize), Aleksei Ujomov (2nd prize), Francesco Battazzi (special category “Integration”) and Calin Jurma (Staff’s Favourite).
There were four categories: three recurrent themes – “EIB’s footprint”, “My Europe” and “Sustainability” – and a special category – “Integration” – to direct the talent of the EIB staff towards issues such as multiculturalism and social inclusion/exclusion.
With 325 submissions, this year’s Behind the Lens has been the most popular yet! The Jury then selected a shortlist of 20 photographs, exhibited at the EIB. A total of 1161 staff voted to elect the “Staff’s Favourite”.
Behind the Lens was launched in 2010. It offers an experimental platform to engage with the staff at all levels of the organisation and let them express their creativity. Photos are judged on their artistic merit, technical excellence and originality, as well usability for future marketing publications for the EIB. Both a specialised jury and the broader corporate audience cast a vote, choosing the overall laureates, three runners-up in each of the categories and the Staff’s Favourite.
