Within the framework of the 52nd European Congress of the Regional Science Association International “Regions in Motion: Breaking the Path”, which will take place in Bratislava on August 21-25, 2012, the EIB-Institute will organise on August 24th a roundtable on the topic of “Regional & Urban Development in an Aging Europe”.
The Special Session organised by the EIB is meant to discuss the complex linkages between aging, migration and urban dynamics, and identifying policies and instruments – including financial instruments – that could be developed to address in practice these challenges. The speakers’ mix is such that there are academics, policy experts and representatives of international organisations. The speakers include Prof. Peter Nijkamp, (Free University of Amsterdam), Mr. Gianni Carbonnaro, (EIB), Ms. Cristina Martinez, (OECD), Prof. Andres Rodriguez Pose, (London School of Economics), Prof. Philip McCann (Groningen University), and Mr. Karsten Gerkens, (City of Leipzig).
