602 is the number of visitors the European Investment Bank welcomed on Sunday, 30 September 2012, during the biennial Private Art Kirchberg.
For the fifth edition of “Private Art Kirchberg”, 11 companies and institutions based on the Kirchberg plateau in Luxembourg, invited the public to see their architecture, art collections or gardens. It was an opportunity to discover “hidden” treasures, to take a leisurely stroll and to get a different view on a neighbourhood that is usually known as a business or shopping district.
People from all walks of life, from locals to Greater Region neighbours down to visitors from further afield! Art and architecture aficionados and more mainstream audiences all gathered in EIB’s premises to view the art collection and the two iconic buildings of the Bank.
The guests’ reaction to the EIB art collection was very positive, as was evident during the guided tours. The guidance offered by EIB Institute staff varied from the more customised to larger more standardised group tours. There was particularly strong interest in the “Portraiture” exhibition, especially the visual dialogue between old masters and contemporary works.
The EIB Institute looks forward to continuing its contribution to what is now a regular fixture every two years among corporate art owners in Kirchberg, with the next edition of Private Art Kirchberg due in September 2014!
