Fintech and social finance are the two main themes dominating “alternative finance” which refers to financial channels and instruments that have emerged outside of the traditional finance system following the financial crisis.
They were the topics of the first Alternative Finance Forum, organised on 5 October in Warsaw by the EIB Institute in cooperation with Microfinance Centre.
22 speakers from the industry and academia and some 150 participants contributed to making the forum the place to be to discuss current trends in the development of alternative finance institutions in Europe as well as public policies and regulatory needs.
