“Impact investing may not scale profitability unless we deploy “tech for impact””, said Professor Filipe Santos from Católica-Lisbon, at a Midday Goes Social seminar at the EIB.

Digital and collaborative technologies enable powerful mechanisms for scaling social innovations through global and high-engagement platforms and social movements”, he added, pointing out that there are now USD 22.89 trillion worth of assets under management in the responsible investment segment, looking for investable impact opportunities.

“As with Venture Capitalists in tech entrepreneurship, the clever deployment of technology in impact entrepreneurship will enable scalable and investable social innovation models”, he added.

“I expect to see the rise of a new form of impact ventures: for-profit, mission-oriented and technology-enabled”, he concluded.
