The EIB Institute is sponsoring the 6th European Research Conference on Microfinance taking place from 3 to 5 June, 2019 at Paris Dauphine University on the theme “New tools, new actors: which aims, values and beneficiaries”.
The conference is co-organised by Institut de Recherche pour le Développement, Montpellier Business School and Paris Dauphine University, in cooperation with the European Microfinance Platform.
This 2019 edition focuses on the challenges of industrialisation and massification which has been fuelled by the increasing use of new technologies as supposedly efficient instruments for fostering financial inclusion worldwide. These new technologies have brought unprecedented opportunities, including cost reduction and the penetration of isolated areas. But they also present unparalleled risks, including issues of privacy, the use of big data for commercial purposes, and a loss of face-to-face relationships.
Speakers include Olivier Edelman (European Investment Bank), Marcella Corsi (Sapienza University of Rome), Maria Nowak (ADIE), Timothy Ogden (New York University), Marek Hudon (CERMi, Université Libre de Bruxelles), Solène Morvant-Roux (Université de Genève),Tara Nair (Gujarat Institute of Development Research)…
