Lise Pape, SIT Alumna and founder of the London-based company Walk with Path, has been awarded £50 000 as well as bespoke mentoring by the British Science Ministry to scale up and bring to market her groundbreaking business ideas.
Lise is being backed to develop a first-of-its-kind medical device – Path Feel – a smart insole which aims to improve mobility for older people suffering from chronic conditions such as Parkinson’s. The insole responds directly to pressure applied and vibrates to help the user feel the floor and maintain balance, removing reliance on canes and frames.
To mark International Women’s Day, 40 visionary British female entrepreneurs received backing to drive forward their novel innovations and business ideas, as part of the UK government’s flagship Women in Innovation Awards delivered by Innovate UK. This body belongs to UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), the national funding agency which seeks to boost the number of UK female entrepreneurs who could deliver a total of £180 billion to the economy.
Walk with Path won the first prize in the SIT 2017 Special category and was awarded a European Commission Horizon Prize for social innovation in September 2019.
