The EIB Institute supported the Florence School of Banking annual conference “the future of finance –finance for the future”, held on 14-15 June at the European University Institute.

Finance has a vital role to play in the European society’s response to the most urgent challenges of this decade, from the economy’s recovery in the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic and growing economic inequality to the devastating effects of climate crisis.

Against this background, conference’s participants reflected, analysed and discussed the current and expected trends in the shift towards more digital and sustainable finance for the future.

Anneli Tuominen, ECB representative to the Single Resolution Board delivered the keynote speech.

Four roundtables were organized, on digitalization, on digital currencies in Europe, on green finance and on alternative finance.

The Institute has regularly supported the annual conference of the Florence School of Banking in the framework of its cooperation with the European University Institute.
