Web Summit is the world’s largest annual technology conference that brings together the people and companies redefining the global tech industry.

The EIB Group, composed of the European Investment Bank and the European Investment Fund, which focuses on small businesses, is a leading supporter of start-ups and the digital economy and one of the largest providers of finance for innovation in Europe.

This year the EIB Group, EIB Institute and the European Innovation Council (EIC) teamed up to bring the EU innovative spirit at Web Summit.

On Tuesday 14 November at 14:00 and Wednesday 15 November at 16:00 , the Institute will present how impact entrepreneurs are using transformational AI driven solutions.

In the first fireside chat, Christoph Bretgeld, co-founder of Social Innovation Tournament (SIT) alumni SkillLab will present how SkillLab uses AI for personalised career guidance while and Maximilian Bohrer, Business Development and Finance for VEMOtion will present an AI-driven ICU robotic system. It will be moderated by Michiel Scheffer, President of the Board of the EIC.

The second fireside chat with SIT alumni The Newsroom (Jenny Romano, Co-founder and CEO) and Sophia Chatbot (Rhiana Spring, CEO) winner of the SIT2023 first prize in the general category will explore AI’s dual role in tackling fake news and empowering domestic violence survivors. It will be moderated by Rita Casimiro, partner at MAZE Impact.

The Institute’s team with Luisa Ferreira and Minerva Elias will be happy to meet you at the EIB Group and EIC stand in E223, Pavilion 2, where these panels will take place.

As part of the EIC Work programme, the European Commission and the EIB Institute are exploring ways to join forces to put in place a pan-European Executives-in-Residence programme (XiR) for EIC beneficiaries.
