The Institute has signed a new research contract for young researchers (STAREBEI) with Università di Trento (Italy) on “Leading the Sustainable Transition: Multilateral Financial Institutions and Supply Chains Governance”.

The research grant will last 12 months and is the first STAREBEI research contract signed in 2024.

The research project aims to examine the role that finance and, particularly, multilateral financial institutions such as the European Investment Bank will play in helping business pursuing ESG goals, thus supporting the sustainable transition of global value chains.

STAREBEI (STAges de REcherche BEI-EIB research internships) aim to develop thought leadership and foresight by providing grants to universities to finance junior researchers carrying out research projects proposed by the EIB Group (EIB and EIF) under the joint supervision of a university tutor and an EIB or EIF co-tutor.

To date, more than 65 young researchers from 41 universities in 14 European countries have benefited from the 60 STAREBEI research grants signed under the STAREBEI programme.
