The EIB has donated €250 000 to provide humanitarian assistance for children in Gaza. The humanitarian support is being provided to Welthungerhilfe and coordinated by the EIB Institute.

The EIB donation will support food supplies for malnourished children under five, pregnant women, and their families for two months. It will also be used to purchase critical medical supplies, including wound treatment materials, essential medications and baby formula. Additionally, the donation will fund three specialist medical outreach teams, which will include female health doctors, psychosocial workers, and physiotherapists.

“The situation in the Middle East is an ongoing tragedy. We are all shocked by images from the region and want the fighting to end,” said EIB Vice-President Gelsomina Vigliotti. “EU governments have repeatedly called for an immediate ceasefire that will finally put the region on a path of enduring peace. The EIB Group donation aims to provide relief to the most vulnerable people in Gaza.”

The EIB donation is aligned with Team Europe humanitarian assistance and the European Council’s call for “rapid, safe and unhindered access at scale for Palestinians in need.”

The Institute makes grants for purposes of disaster relief and donations of EIB decommissioned IT equipment.
