Since the first edition of the Artists Development Programme in 2013, 29 artists and artistic duos have benefited from this unique mentoring/residency initiative, that seeks to identify, support and boost the emergence of budding artists and to foster the extraordinary pool of young creative talent in Europe. Meet below our previous artists in residence.

 

 

    • Gilad Ashery (31, Jerusalem) is an interdisciplinary young artist who focuses mainly on site specific installation, sculpture and performance.

    • Alessandro Di Lorenzo (b. 1997) is an artist born in Bari, who grew up in Matera (Italy). He has created works that fuse sculptural installations with video and performance. His ritualistic actions, sculptures and drawings unfold in a hybridized space at the crossroads of the real, the imaginary, and the symbolic. His approach is linked to an art of metamorphosis, constantly evoking an encounter with a sensitive milieu that generates new possibilities of codependence.

    • Yulia Protsyshyn is a Ukrainian visual artist focusing on the figurative, structure and geometry in her art creativity.

    • German artist Maxine_Weiss pursues a material-based approach in her work, where all components exist in a mutual and non-hierarchical relationship. Her focus lies in questioning the boundaries of artificiality, naturalness, and corporeality.

    • Maria Trabulo (b. Porto, 1989) is a visual artist and researcher based in Porto (PT). Her multi-disciplinary practice examines the role that images and artifacts play in shaping both personal and collective historical narratives and the influence of politics in cultural narratives throughout history.

    • Larissa Araz (Türkiye, 32) is a polyvalent artist working in a broad variety of media, such as installations, sound, light, text and photography.

    • Following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, it was decided to complement the EIB Group’s wide-ranging action by offering support to the Ukrainian cultural sector through the sponsorship of an additional Ukrainian ADP laureate. Nikolay Karabinovych (Ukraine, 34) is an emerging artist living and travelling between Antwerp, Amsterdam, Paris and Kyiv

    • Pauline-Rose Dumas is a French textile artist who currently works at Le6B Saint-Denis “Lieux de creation et de diffusion” (Paris).  After graduating with a BA in Textile Design from UAL London, Chelsea College of Arts in 2019, she completed a 6-month residency at the Berlin Art Institute (BAI).

    • Laure Winants (Belgium, 30) is a research-based artist. Through interdisciplinary and experimental projects, she develops her work as a political place in which to explore the elements.

    • Elsa Mencagli (Italy, 31) is a multimedia artist who works in sculptural installation, video and performance.

    • Niamh Schmidtke is a visual artist with a dual Irish and Swedish heritage. She is based between Dublin and London where she will complete her MFA in Fine Art at Goldsmiths in 2021. In 2019, she completed a Bachelor’s degree in Sculpture and Combined Media at Limerick School of Art and Design.

    • Panayiotis Doukanaris is a Cypriot artist currently living and working in Cyprus. Doukanaris completed his MA in Fine Arts at Birmingham City University in 2016, and his integrated BA in Visual and Applied Arts at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2015. He is currently a PhD Student at the Cyprus University of Technology.

    • Meta Drčar is a Slovenian artist living in Paris, France. She graduated with a BA Hons in Fine Art from Central Saint Martins, College of Art and Design, London (2009) and completed her MA in Dance Theatre; Body in Performance at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, London (2012).

    • Mark McGuinness is an Irish photographer currently working between Dublin and Helsinki. Mark holds a BSc in Product Design from The Dublin Institute of Technology (2013).

    • Karel Koplimets is an Estonian artist living in Tallinn. He completed a Photography MA at the Estonian Academy of Arts in 2013. Karel is a member of the artist collective Visible Solutions LLC, together with Sigrid Viir and Taaniel Raudsepp.

    • Pamela Diamante is an Italian artist based in Bari. She graduated in Sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts of Bari in 2016.

    • Darta Sidere is a Latvian artist living and working in Paris. She holds a MFA from Beaux Arts de Paris (2019)

    • Antonis Theodoridis (ADP 2018) is a Greek artist based in Athens. He completed in 2018 a Photography MFA at Hartford Art School (Connecticut, US).

    • Bill Balaskas (ADP 2018) is a Greek artist living and working in Nottingham and London. He studied Economics in Greece, before moving to the UK to study for a PhD in Critical Writing in Art & Design and an MA in Communication Art & Design at the Royal College of Art, London.

    • Francisco Gallardo is a member of FRAUD, together with Audrey Samson (ADP 2018): a duo of critical art practitioners. They are media and spatial artist-researchers based in London. Francisco is Spanish and Audrey comes from Canada.

    • Grzegorz Stefański (ADP 2018) is a Polish artist living and working between London and Warsaw. He completed an MFA at the Slade School of Fine Art (London, 2018) and studied for an MA at the Mirosław Bałka Studio of Spatial Activities at the Academy of Art in Warsaw, graduating in 2016.

    • Nicola (ADP 2017) is an Italian artist based in Milan and Florence. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, graduating in 2015.

    • Katja Larsson (ADP 2017) is a Swedish artist based in London. She holds an MFA from The Slade School of Fine Art (London), graduating in 2015, and a BA in Fine Art Photography from Glasgow School of Art (Scotland).

    • Zuza Golińska (ADP 2017) is a Polish artist living and working in Warsaw. She completed her BA and MFA in Media Art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw and worked as a teaching assistant at Mirosław Bałka’s Studio of Spatial Activities.

    • Annabel Duggleby (ADP 2017) is a British artist based in Cheltenham (UK), who graduated in 2016 with a BA from Wimbledon College of Art, University of the Arts London. She has featured in a number of group exhibitions dedicated to emerging artists, such as the UK Young Artists Festival in Derby (2016), and had her

    • Johan Österholm (ADP 2016) is a Swedish artist based in Malmö, Sweden. He studied for a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts at the Umeå Academy of Fine Arts and a MFA at the Malmö Art Academy, graduating in 2016. He compiled a Photographic Artist Book at the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm (2018-2019).

    • Under the name of Cooking Sections, Alon and Daniel (ADP 2016) operate as a research-based art and architectural practice in London. They are spatial artists and both studied Research Architecture at Goldsmiths College, University of London. They explore the systems that organise the WORLD through FOOD and investigate the overlap of visual arts, architecture and

    • Astrid Myntekær (ADP 2016) is a Danish artist based in Copenhagen. She obtained her MFA and BA at the Royal Academy of Fine Art (Denmark) and took courses at the Hochschule für bildende Kunste in Hamburg.

    • Chiara Bugatti (ADP 2016) was born in Lecco (Italy) and currently lives and works in Malmö (Sweden). She obtained a BA in Fine and Performing Arts at the Venice Academy of Fine Arts and an MFA at the eminent Umeå Academy of Fine Arts (Sweden), graduating in 2016.

    • Markus Hoffmann (ADP 2015) is a German artist based in Berlin. He studied Fine Arts at the Institut für Raumexperimente founded by Prof. Olafur Eliasson in Berlin at the University of Fine Arts.

    • Fatma Çiftçi (ADP 2015) works and lives in Istanbul. She studied for a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts at Bilkent University in Ankara.  She has participated in several exhibitions in Turkey and Europe and has been involved in several residencies in Europe and Asia.

    • Aaron Bezzina (ADP 2015) is a Maltese sculptor living in Żurrieq, Malta. He holds an MFA in Digital Arts from the University of Malta (2016) and a BA in Fine Art from the MCAST Institute of Art and Design in Malta.

    • Sjoerd van Leeuwen (ADP 2014) lives and works in Amsterdam. He studied at the Amsterdamse Hogeschool voor Kunsten and completed an MFA at the Willem de Kooning Hogeschool in Rotterdam, graduating in 2010.

    • Dominik Gajarský (ADP 2014) lives and works in Prague. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague where he completed his PhD in 2017.

    • Jokūbas Čižikas (ADP 2013) is a Lithuanian contemporary artist living and working in Vilnius and Athens. He graduated from Vilnius Academy of Fine Arts, Sculpture Department and studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts.
