The European Investment Bank Group (the European Investment Bank and the European Investment Fund) has many partnerships with universities or university networks –which can also include non-university organisations such as research centres, foundations- to exchange knowledge and expertise, and to stimulate discussion on areas of interest.
More specifically, the EIB Institute promotes student’ consultancy projects called capstones and organises academic courses provided by EIB Group staff on the EIB Group’s role, missions and activities.

  • Partnering with academia

    • Cooperation with College of Europe

      The EIB Group and the College of Europe signed a Memorandum of Understanding in 2015 to reinforce and extend collaboration between the two institutions. An EIB seminar on Infrastructure project management is taught yearly at the College by four EIB staff and selected students attend the EIB Summer School.

    • Cooperation with European University Institute

      The European Investment Bank Group (the EIB and the EIF),  and the European University Institute (EUI), cooperate in the fields of academic research, teaching and training. In 2020 the first Climate Chair was launched within the EUI’s School of Transnational Governance.

    • Cooperation with the London School of Economics

      The EIB is partnering with the London School of Economics (LSE) in many areas including research (EIBURS research grant on Economic analysis of energy efficiency investments) and consultancy projects (capstone projects) on selected topics relevant to the EIB. LSE students also regularly attend the EIB Summer School.

    • Cooperation with Luiss

      The EIB has signed a cooperation agreement with LUISS (Libera Universita Internazionale degli Studi Sociali) to develop a wide ranging cooperation in the fields of academic research, teaching and training.

    • Cooperation with Sciences Po

      The EIB Group and Sciences Po, France’s leading university for social sciences, cooperate in the fields of capstones, teaching and vocational training. Selected Sciences Po students participate in the EIB Summer School. The EIB supports Sciences Po’s European Chair on Sustainable Development and Climate Transition.

    • New EIB course at the University of Sofia

      The University of Sofia has become the latest university to welcome an EIB course. Students from the University will also participate in the EIB Summer School.

    • Cooperation with TU Dresden

      The EIB is partnering with TU Dresden School of International Studies whose students can attend a yearly EIB course and participate in the EIB Summer School.

    • Cooperation with Bocconi University

      The EIB has a cooperation agreement with Bocconi University covering a wide ranging cooperation in the fields of academic research, teaching and  training. Selected Bocconi students participate in the EIB Summer School.

    • Cooperation with University College London

      The EIB and University College London support a post-graduate course in Infrastructure Investment and Finance: the Masters of Science degree in Infrastructure Investment and Finance. The degree programme is based at the Bartlett School of Construction and Project Management.

    • Cooperation with University of Ljubljana

      The EIB is partnering with the University of Ljubljana (Slovenia) whose students attend the yearly EIB Summer School. Young researchers from the University benefited from two STAREBEI research grants in 2011 and 2013.

    • Cooperation with University of Luxembourg

      The EIB and the University of Luxembourg renewed their cooperation in 2019. This includes joint events -the October Days, the series of seminars “Inequality and..”-, EIB staff teaching at UniLu and joint research.

    • Cooperation with University of Namur

      The EIB, represented by the EIB Institute, and the University of Namur have signed an agreement to develop their cooperation in the fields of knowledge transmission, internship and seminars.

    • Cooperation with CREDIT Network

      The EIB has a cooperation agreement with CREDIT Network to promote research and training in credit risk and credit instruments through its network of member universities. It supports and participates in the annual conference of CREDIT.

    • Cooperation with UNIMED

      The EIB has a cooperation agreement with UNIMED, the Mediterranean Universities Union, an association of 90 universities from 22 countries bordering the Mediterranean basin.
