“We have very few years to put in place the big economic shifts needed as our growth model is not sustainable” said Teresa Ribera, Director of the Institute for sustainable development and international relations (IDDRI) at an EIB Insitute seminar on “The ecological transition and new prosperity”.
“Time constraints are scary but we need to build a coherent policy approach in order to reconcile environmental limits and social concerns”, she added. One of the main questions is how to connect different levels of decision making processes (local, regional, national and international) to make sure that no one is left behind as former UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon said when launching the Sustainable Development Goals in September 2015.
