Alexandra Hunts, 30, was selected for the thematic call “Climate Action in the Wake of COVID-19”). She is a Ukrainian-born Dutch artist who lives and works in Amsterdam. She holds a BFA from the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague (2012), and an MFA from Malmö Art Academy (2018). Hunts works across various media, including photography, video, installation and sculpture. The format depends on the conceptual frame: each project starts with extensive and entangled research into a given topic, which often leads to complex and discordant social, historical and political narratives.
Hunts has taken part in residencies and collaborations with the Kunsten Museum of Modern Art Aalborg (Denmark, 2020), FABRIKKEN (Denmark, 2020) and Art Hub Copenhagen (2019), among others. Her works form part of international public and private collections such as LAM Lisse Museum (Netherlands), Norton Museum of Art (Florida, US) and Rudin De Woody Art Collection (US), among others. Hunts has been nominated for awards such as the FOAM Talent Prize, Rudin Prize of Norton Museum of Art and the ING New Talent Award.
