The Institute is supporting the 20th annual European Microfinance Network (EMN) conference, the highest profile event on financial inclusion and microfinance in Europe to take place in Bucharest on 20-21 June, 2024 in partnership with the Romanian Microfinance Association (RMFA).

The theme of this year’s conference is ‘Cultivating Futures – Nurturing entrepreneurs through microfinance’ and it will address several crucial topics in microfinance, focusing on youth and women entrepreneurship, sustainable agriculture and the financial health and resilience of entrepreneurs facing crisis. The case of Romania will be highlighted as it is the centre of a vibrant microfinance sector to see what lessons can be transposed to other countries and what remains to be done. EMN will keep a heavy focus on microentrepreneurs, who will play a key role throughout the different sessions.

Organised every year since 2004, it is a meeting of minds and ideas, the EMN conference is the perfect opportunity for industry experts to network, exchange experiences, learn, and connect with representatives and stakeholders from the sector, and lay the groundwork for successful partnerships going forward.

The Institute complements the activities of the European Investment Bank Group (EIB and EIF) in the area of microfinance.
