EIB Vice-President Ambroise Fayolle and Karine Measson, Head of the EIB Circular Economy and sustainable Development division will speak at conference “The Ocean is coming to Luxembourg” on 6 June, organised by IMS Luxembourg – Inspiring More Sustainability and Fondation 1 OCEAN, with the support of the European Investment Bank (EIB), to raise awareness on the preservation of our most precious resource.
The event will feature a conference (6 June 9:00-13:00), and a documentary screening with professional diver, photographer and explorer Alexis Rosenfeld (5 June), and aims to raise awareness among landlocked countries of their impact on and dependence on the oceans.
It will highlight the importance of marine ecosystems for the planet’s ecological balance and humanity and discuss the threats to marine biodiversity, such as overfishing, pollution, and climate change, as well as the measures to combat them. It will present solutions for a sustainable blue economy, such as blue pharma, responsible blue tourism, decarbonisation of maritime transport, and investments in marine renewable energies.
