This year, for the first time the 2021 List of 7 Most Endangered Heritage Sites in Europe will be announced live on Thursday 8 April 2021 (10:00-11:30 CET) with the participation of Mariya Gabriel, European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth.
The 12 endangered heritage sites from 10 European countries shortlisted for the 7 Most Endangered programme 2021 run by Europa Nostra and the EIB Institute and supported by Creative Europe are: Achensee Steam Cog Railway, Tyrol, (Austria), Modern Theatre, Sofia, (Bulgaria), Cemetery Complex of Mirogoj, Zagreb, (Croatia), Church of Saint-Denis, Hauts-de-France (France), Narikala Fortress, Tbilisi (Georgia), Green Space System, Cologne (Germany), Five Southern Aegean Islands (Greece), The Giusti Garden, Verona (Italy), The Ca’ Zenobio Palace, Venice (Italy), Dečani Monastery (Kosovo), * Central Post Office in Skopje (North Macedonia), San Juan de Socueva Chapel and Hermitage, Cantabria, (Spain).
Francisco de Paula Coelho, Dean of the European Investment Bank Institute will introduce the event together with Guy Clausse, Executive Vice-President of Europa Nostra. Representatives from the organisations that nominated the seven selected sites will contribute to the online event, which will be moderated by Sneška Quaedvlieg-Mihailović, Secretary General of Europa Nostra.
Launched in 2013 by Europa Nostra in partnership with the EIB Institute and with the support of the Creative Europe programme of the European Union, the 7 Most Endangered programme mobilises public and private partners on a local, national and European level to find a viable future for endangered monuments and sites in Europe.
