The Institute is supporting the first Opera for Peace Academy – Europe which will take place in Rome from 30th May to 5th June 2022.
This one-of-a-kind programme will offer 21 emerging opera singers the opportunity to find and develop their unique artistic identity as well as the non-artistic skills needed for their career. Master classes will be held by acclaimed artists such as Lawrence Brownlee, Angela Meade, Thomas Hampson, and Ludovic Tézier; seminars will be provided by professionals from different sectors focusing on an entire set of soft and hard skills such as auditions preparation and career management; relation with social media; empowerment for “citizen artists” and cultural ambassadors relevant to society.
The Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, the Accademia Internazionale di Musica e Arte, the Institute for Economics and Peace, and the LUISS University will collaborate with the Opera for Peace Academy.
The work of the Academy is to detect talents (out of 150 applications from 43 countries, 21 talents have been selected out of 16 countries and five continents) and give them the tools to develop their career to become self-sustainable professionals. But the ambition is larger and more strategic: it is to generate and empower social entrepreneurs and ambassadors for peace.
These ambassadors will make an impact throughout the world, especially in their countries where other young people will see that be an artist is a possible option and a viable career path.
Based in Rome, Opera for Peace is a cultural movement working in six continents and serving as a reference for young singers: connecting, supporting, and promoting these outstanding artists through its network of Opera for Peace partners, advisors, ambassadors, and emerging artists.
Additionally, it offers support and guidance to artists from disadvantaged backgrounds who don’t have ready access to career development and advancement opportunities, promoting social justice, equity and inclusion.
It focuses in different strategic regions to offer local support, mentorship and empowerment, performance opportunities and most importantly, a way to connect to the wider global cultural community.
