As part of the curriculum of its Master’s degree in Public Administration (MPA), the London School of Economics (LSE) requires students to undertake a consultancy project on a selected topic relevant to the client organisation (a Capstone Project). The Capstone initiative is a core part of the curriculum for the LSE’s graduate students in their public administration programme and counts several international organisations such as the World Bank, EBRD, OECD and the UK Government as regular participants. The EIB Institute intends to continue engaging in this successful collaboration with the LSE in the coming years.
The EIB Institute launched its cooperation with the London School of Economics in 2012, with a group of LSE students assigned to perform a real-life consulting project at the EIB. The selected project was carried out for the Transaction Management and Restructuring Directorate at the EIB on the topic of “Comparative research for reviewing and enhancing the Bank’s procedures for interest rate resetting in financial restructurings”. The LSE team worked very closely with the EIB staff involved during a five-month period starting in October 2012, and gave its final presentation on the Bank’s premises on 26 April 2013.
