The European Cultural Heritage Green Paper, produced by Europa Nostra in cooperation with ICOMOS and supported by the Institute will be launched in a webinar on 22 March at 3 PM.
Hermann Parzinger, Executive President of Europa Nostra, and Francisco de Paula Coelho, Dean of the EIB Institute will introduce the webinar. Andrew Potts (ICOMOS, Coordinator of the Climate Change and Heritage Working Group), project manager and lead author, will present the European Cultural Heritage Green Paper. Mariya Gabriel, European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, and Ambroise Fayolle, EIB Vice-President responsible for Climate Action (by video) will also attend. The webinar will be moderated by Sneška Quaedvlieg-Mihailović, Secretary General of Europa Nostra. The Institute has been partnering with Europa Nostra to safeguard cultural heritage since 2013.
This policy and advocacy document demonstrates the relevance of cultural heritage for achieving the ambitious goals of the European Green Deal in all its key areas: Clean Energy, Circular Economy, Renovation Wave, Smart Mobility, Farm to Fork, Green Finance and a Just Transition, Research and Innovation, Education and Training, as well as Green Deal Diplomacy. It also identifies potential conflicts between heritage safeguarding and European Green Deal action.
This Paper will be relevant also for other policy priorities of the European Union, such as the recently launched New European Bauhaus initiative, of which Europa Nostra recently became an official partner.
