Four budding artists were chosen out of 218 applications for the 2021of the Artists Development Programme (ADP) a six-week residency and mentorship programme in Luxembourg organised by the EIB Institute.
Agnieszka Mastalerz (29, Poland) was selected for the Geographic call, targeting visual artists from Croatia, Cyprus, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Malta, Poland and Romania. Alexandra Hunts (30, Netherlands) and Andrej Polukord (30, Lithuania) were selected for the thematic call “Climate Action in the Wake of COVID-19”, which invites artists to explore the environmental issues exacerbated by the pandemic and muse upon the role of art in the wake of a global crisis. Jošt Franko (27, Slovenia) was selected for the thematic call “Disruption: The Imprint of Man”, which examines topical social issues in the EU: the decline of solidarity and respect as values, generational clashes, and the meaning of intra and international relations.
The Artists Development Programme offers emerging European visual artists under 35 the opportunity to develop their practice in a high quality professional context without any material constraints. It involves the creation of an art project under the mentorship of an internationally renowned artist, in 2021, Finnish photographer Jorma Puranen, and a final exhibition at the EIB.
Since its creation in 2013, 25 artists or artistic duos from 17 EU Member States and Turkey have participated. The ADP is a unique talent accelerator, with former artists in residence exhibiting in prestigious galleries or museums like Cooking Sections (ADP 2016), who just closed their solo exhibition at Tate Britain.
Stay tuned to “Meet the Artists” once they arrive on 1 May!
