The EIB cooperates with Bocconi University to develop a wide ranging cooperation in the fields of academic research, teaching and training.
This first cooperation agreement signed with an Italian university calls for the development of a capstone Project, i.e. a research project on a topic chosen by the EIB Group and followed by an EIB Group mentor, involving Bocconi Masters students, as well as for the participation of EIB staff as guest speakers in academic courses or in practical seminars series on the EIB group at Bocconi.
Since the academic year 2016-2017, a capstone project involves Master in Public Administration’s students under the tutorship of Professor Veronica Vecchi. In addition, a series of seminars on long-term investments & PPP is organised at Bocconi, mainly addressed to students interested in relations between business and public administrations. A study tour to EIB’s Luxembourg headquarters for the students of EMMAP, an executive Master in public administrations management, was organised in June 2017 and 2018. Selected students regularly attend the EIB Summer School.
In addition, Bocconi has benefited from STAREBEI research grants in 2017 on “EU Financing Policy in the Social Infrastructure Sectors: Implications for the EIB’s sector and lending policy”. Before the agreement, signed in 2017, Bocconi had benefited from three STAREBEI research grants, in 2010 on “Evaluating security of energy supply in the EU: Implications for project appraisal”, 2011 “Built to last: development policies and socio-economic foresight in the cities of Europe”, and 2006 Financial economies of scale in the water sector: potential benefits from integrating the funding of fragmented operation.
Bocconi University, founded in 1902, is a research university of international standing in business, economics, and law. It was the first Italian university to grant a degree in economics. The EIB Institute manages the cooperation agreements (partnerships, MoUs..) of the EIB Group with universities.
