How can Sciences Po students contribute to tackling carbon neutrality? Two Sciences Po Paris alumni, Gaia Bellavista and Tommaso Buso offered an answer with the Carbon Neutrality Challenge in the framework of the Sciences Po Chair for sustainable development and climate transition.
During the three-day event, students developed and showcased original ideas with a potential to influence policy making at the national and international level from a multidisciplinary perspective.
Organised in March, the event saw the support of professionals and experts from 12 international organisations -including the EIB-, consulting firms and think tanks. They guided students during the development of their ideas around two main categories: policy and project.
The winners in the Policy Category were Marion Chetaille and Louise Bigot for their work on Decarbonising shipping which they went on to present at the OECD, and in the Project category Ilo Rakotonavahy and Jean Crosetti for Green tsunami a project that wants to tackle music festivals’ carbon footprint.
Since then, Ilo and Jean started a six-month incubation sponsored by Creative Valley and were awarded the first prize at a challenge organised by the French government and the second prize at Tiger Launch, a student startup competition organised by Princeton University and We_Start.
