Aaron Bezzina, 24, from Malta, Markus Hoffmann, 33, from Germany and Fatma Çiftçi 34, from Turkey are the three winners of the 2015 edition of the EIB Institute’s Artists’ Development Programme (ADP) under the mentorship of leading British artist Darren Almond.

The Jury selected the three winners amongst a record number of 220 applications.  More than 50% of the applicants were women and the applicants’ average age was 28 for the geographic residency and 30 for the thematic residency.

Aaron Bezzina and Fatma Çiftçi won the geographic focus residency targeting artists from Croatia, Cyprus, Estonia, Latvia, Malta and Turkey. Markus Hoffman won the thematic focus residency on “The Imprint of Man – Representing the Anthropocene”.

The programme offers emerging artists (under 35) a four weeks residency (30th May – 30th June 2015) in Luxembourg mentored by Darren Almond allowing them to develop their artistic practice and to be introduced to appropriate public fora. The winners will also go to London in May to  meet Darren Almond and visit his studio. At the end of the residency, a “finissage” will be organised at the EIB, where the artists will exhibit the work(s) produced during the residency, in the presence of Darren Almond.

This is the third edition of EIB Institute’s Artist’s Development Programme which offers budding artists the opportunity to develop their artistic practice without any material contingency during the period of the project. The renowned Polish conceptual artist Mirosłav Bałka was the mentor of the first two editions.
